Your concerns about the cost of the Leica lenses is well justified, IMO. Still, this is really a very small criticism of what is one of the finest manual SLRs ever. The FM2 uses a series of (IIRC) 5 LEDs, which get you to within a stop of the correct exposure - outside of a stop over or under, and you won't how much over or under you are. That being said, I'm of the opinion that a match needle display is more informative, as it will tell you by how much the exposure varies as you change lighting or one of the camera settings. The FM2N is a great camera - tough as boots, pretty compact with full system support (lenses, screens, motors etc), and of course it gives access to superb Nikkor lenses that will continue to be useful (and superb) regardless of whether you stay with film or move on to digital down the road.
